Popup in LA - I

A conceptual design for LA-based fashion brands JILL AIKO YEE and AELLA’s “Made in LA” popup shop, which planned to feature 30+ local brands in addition to their own, at a popular outdoor shopping mall in Los Angeles.

The 3-month temporary store's intent was to provide a one-stop shop for socially aware shoppers - in the heart of a mall with a familiar roster of national brands.

With a limited buildout budget and schedule, in a large existing TI space whose interior partitions were not to be demolished, the concept used the existing language of arched entries to apportion the too-large space into a procession of smaller, intimate spaces:

A living room at the entry; a shop space at the center marked by an arched structure-within-a-structure and custom V-shaped collapsible racks; and a work space at the back for clients to have visible connection to the locally-produced goods purchased in the shop.

All fixtures, racks, art, and furniture were to be collaborative pieces with or exhibits by local LA designers.
