Aejie Rhyu is an architect living and working in Los Angeles, California.
She has worked at international architectural design offices in NY, Seoul, LA, and in the SF bay area, including Toshiko Mori Architect, RE X, and SOM, and has contributed to such projects as Ordos 100 in Inner Mongolia, Museum Plaza in Louisville, and LAX exterior improvements and the James Hotel at Sunset La Cienega in Los Angeles. She is currently working at Commune Design, an interior design firm with a holistic approach across the fields of interiors, architecture, branding and product design.
Her professional experience includes projects spanning from small-scale residential to cultural, institutional, and large-scale commercial developments. She has had key roles in design as well as in leading teams, in all phases of design from concept to construction.
Projects that she has contributed to have received AIA and other design awards, and have been recognized and published internationally.
Her diverse background which includes internships at CHANEL and GEN ART, in fashion and PR in addition to architectural design, has influenced her interest in design at all scales and as a means of establishing identity.
Aejie holds a Master of Architecture from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Art History and Architectural History, Theory, and Criticism from the University of Pennsylvania.
She is a registered architect in the state of New Mexico.
